The Charlotte Martin Foundation is currently accepting applications for funding online. Our Program Guidelines, Frequently Asked Questions, and Application Forms have all been recently updated, so please review carefully. Maximum grant request permitted is $20,000.
There will be three funding cycles for 2012.
Cycle 1: Deadline for submissions: January 31, 2012. Grants awarded by March 31, 2012.
Cycle 2: Deadline for submissions: April 30, 2012. Grants awarded by June 15, 2012.
Cycle 3: Deadline for submission: September 30, 2012. Grants awarded by November 15, 2012.

| Enriching the Lives of Youth, Protecting Wildlife and Habitat
The Charlotte Martin Foundation is a private, independent foundation dedicated to enriching the lives of youth in the areas of athletics, culture, and education and also to preserving and protecting wildlife and habitat. Our two areas of focus – youth and wildlife – were established by our founder, Charlotte Yeoman Martin, during her lifetime, and continue today as a legacy to her generosity.
Youth are the future. We need to encourage them to explore their passions and develop their skills through education, culture, and athletics and make strong and lasting contributions to the world. Active involvement in education, creating cultural experiences, and participation in athletic endeavors shapes a lifetime of learning.
Stewardship of wildlife and habitat is a fundamental responsibility. We need to preserve the resilience of our vital ecosystems in order to promote biodiversity and the protection of wildlife.
In our funding decisions, we are guided by these core principles: Relevance: We ask our community for information regarding significant opportunities in our region and in our focus areas to ensure that we are responding to needs and opportunities as experienced by the community.
Community Engagement: We seek to foster community engagement in protecting wildlife and habitat and developing youth skills, thereby building on community strengths and actions.
Focus on Place: Grounded in the Northwest, we fund in urban, rural and tribal area communities in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
Expand Opportunity: We give special consideration in our grantmaking to benefit and expand opportunity for underserved populations in our region.
Leverage: We offer both general and project support to a broad range of organizations by directing our funding to: Existing programs with demonstrated success to continue or expand activity Effective organizations with a track record to sustain excellent programs or initiate new efforts Early stage projects or organizations with potential to have later, far-reaching effects and/or reach larger scale
