lobal initiatives are essential to everything that happens at Penn, both on campus and around the world.Penn is a leader among peer institutions in recruiting international faculty; supporting innovative international programs, institutes, and initiatives; and working directly with international communities, countries, and partner institutions.
Penn’s commitment to global engagement is at the heart of The Penn Compact, the overall vision that guides the university. We express this commitment through three key values:
Services for Faculty and Students
The Office of International Programs, which includes Penn Abroad and International Student and Scholar Services, provides support for the global activities of faculty and students, including study abroad, visas, internships, and travel.
Penn’s Global Activities Registry collects information about the travel activities of faculty, staff, and students, to contact travelers in emergencies, assist them with pre-travel preparations, and identify opportunities for collaboration on international research and operations.
The Global Resources Page offers full access, at any time, to the wide range of Penn’s global resources.
Academic Programs
Penn offers a wide range of distinctive global centers, institutes, and programs. All of Penn’s 12 Schools have programs for global research, study abroad, and international studies; and several Schools maintain web areas dedicated to global engagement:
